A Simple Life

People often think my life is all about music, lights, and glamour. And yes, there are those magical moments on stage when everything feels alive—the band is tight, the audience is vibing, and the energy is electric. But most of my days? They’re simple. Ordinary. And I love that.

I start my mornings quietly. No rush, no noise. Just me, a cup of tea, and the sunlight sneaking through the curtains. Sometimes I write in my journal, sometimes I just sit and listen to the birds. These little rituals keep me grounded. They remind me that peace is something we create for ourselves.

Between shows, I’m not in fancy clothes or under bright lights. I’m in my kitchen, cooking a favorite meal. I’m laughing with family. I’m watering my plants. Ordinary things that make life feel full. And yes, I hum a lot while I cook—sometimes those melodies end up in my songs.

Even on quiet days, music is never far away. I keep a notebook close because ideas come when I least expect them. A phrase, a rhythm, a feeling—it all starts in these ordinary moments. That’s the secret: the stage is where the music shines, but home is where it’s born.

Weekends are different. In my home village, they belong to weddings and funerals. That’s our rhythm. One weekend we’re celebrating love, the next we’re saying goodbye. It’s a reminder that life is a mix of joy and sorrow, and both deserve our presence. I love being part of those moments—they keep me connected to my roots and to the people who shaped me.

And then there are evenings when I sit with my husband, listening to his stories from work at the University of Botswana. He talks about big plans, challenges, and ideas that make me proud. Sometimes we celebrate together—especially when his beloved Leeds United wins. Those are happy, ordinary moments that mean everything.

These simple days are my anchor. They give me balance. They remind me that life isn’t just about the big events—it’s about the spaces in between. Without them, the music wouldn’t feel as alive.

So yes, I love the excitement of concerts and events. But I treasure the ordinary days just as much. They’re the heartbeat behind every song I sing.
