What a beautiful and emotional week this has been. Releasing Sephonono has reminded me once again why I make music—to connect, to heal, to celebrate, and to honour the stories that shaped me. I am deeply grateful for every message, every stream, every call, and every expression of support. Thank you for embracing this album with such warmth.
A Moment That Touched My Heart
I will soon be releasing polished video clips of the event—beautiful highlights to bring back fond memories for everyone who attended, and to share the joy with all of you who followed the journey from afar.
But before the polished footage arrives, let me offer a small teaser… a moment that is especially precious to me. It happened when my beloved mom and dad stood up to dance.
Their joy, their pride, their movement—completely unplanned and straight from the heart—touched me deeply. It touched everyone at the event. And it touched so many more who witnessed it live on social media. Let it touch the world.
What moved me even more was something my mother said afterwards. She held my hand, smiled in that warm way only she can, and said:
“My child, this music comes from your soul. We had to stand up… our hearts stood up first.”
That moment will forever live in my heart.
More updates are coming soon as I prepare for radio interviews, for playlist submissions across Botswana and South Africa, and for the live album launch on 30 April, in celebration of International Jazz Day.
Thank you for walking with me on this beautiful journey.
With love,
Nnunu
