Join Me Lets Listen to Sephonono

When I think about the title track of my album Sephonono, I’m always drawn back to the softness of its beginnings. It’s a song built from the textures of Tswana village life—gentle, grounded, and shaped by the rhythms of womanhood and cultural memory. In many ways, it feels like an oral history set to melody, a quiet ushering of a young woman into adulthood that mirrors so much of my own journey.

Recording it came after a long season of waiting—years marked by pauses, loss, healing, and eventually a return to the studio when the moment finally felt right. Once I stepped back into that creative space, everything flowed. As the entire album took shape Sephonono stood out immediately. It held a maturity and depth that surprised even me, reflecting the growth and change I had carried over the years.

Musically, it carries my signature blend of jazz, tradition, and spirituality—rooted in Setswana culture but shaped by the experiences that have refined my voice. Alongside the other songs on the album, which weave stories of faith and everyday life in Botswana, Sephonono forms the emotional centre of the album, capturing the heart of who I am as an artist.
