A Whirlwind Week With Sephonono

This past week has felt like a beautiful whirlwind—equal parts music, media, love, and the steady hum of purpose. I decided to dedicate the entire week to tightening up all things radio and TV here in Botswana, and what a ride it turned out to be.

It all began last weekend when I somehow managed to convince my wonderfully reluctant husband to join me on a Gabz FM talk show. The topic?
Love and marriage.
On Valentine’s weekend.
You can imagine the look on his face.

But to his credit—and perhaps because it was Valentine’s—he agreed to support me. Trepidation and all. And let me tell you: once the cameras and the microphones were on, he was superb. Thoughtful, funny, honest… the kind of guest who suddenly gets invited back. In fact, he even offered, entirely unprompted, to make a return visit. I’m holding him to that.

Since we were on a roll, he then made it his personal mission to ensure every radio station in Botswana had correctly loaded Sephonono into their playlists. Every file checked. Every station serviced. No excuses.
Mission accomplished.

It’s a wonderful feeling knowing the song has a true home across the country’s airwaves.

Today—Friday—was the crescendo of the week.

The morning started at BTV, where I had the chance not only to speak about the journey of Sephonono, but also to perform the title track. There’s something powerful about bringing a song to life on national television. It felt intimate, honest, and deeply affirming.

Mid‑morning, I shifted gears for a sponsorship pitch to the incredible team at Botswana Development Corporation. The presentation landed well—better than I hoped, actually—and they’ll be taking it to their board next week. Fingers crossed, but my spirit is calm. What will be, will be.

I rounded off the day with a final stop at Webticket, tying up all the last tiny loose ends so that online ticket sales can finally go live this weekend.

Yes—it’s happening.
Tickets for the Sephonono Homecoming Live Launch on April 30th (International Jazz Day) will be available this weekend. The journey from idea to execution has been long, but today felt like the moment it all clicked into place.

It’s been a full, purposeful, satisfying week. Media rooms, microphones, cameras, boardrooms, and digital platforms—each one playing its part in bringing Sephonono to the world.

And through it all, the quiet, steady support of my husband—dragged into the spotlight, yes, but shining anyway.

Next week the rhythm continues, but tonight…
I’m grateful.
I’m excited.
And I’m ready.

See you at the Homecoming.
April 30th. International Jazz Day. Let’s make history together.
