There are some songs you sing, and there are some songs that sing you.
For me, Sephonono is one of those songs.
Performing it at my recent Homecoming Launch was deeply emotional — not just because of the music itself, but because of what the moment meant. To stand before people who know you, who shaped you, who understand where you come from, and to offer them a song that carries so much of your spirit — that is something very special. It felt intimate, powerful, and real.
This video of Sephonono, filmed live at the Homecoming Launch, captures more than a performance. It captures a feeling. It captures the warmth of home, the joy of return, and the beauty of sharing music in a space filled with love, memory, and meaning.
When I sing Sephonono, I feel connected — to my roots, to my story, and to the journey that has brought me here. Every note reminds me that music is not only something we perform; it is something we live. It carries our hopes, our tenderness, our longing, and sometimes even our healing.
The Homecoming Launch was a moment I will never forget. It reminded me why I do this. It reminded me that music has the power to gather people, to create atmosphere, to honour where we come from, and to open the heart. I am so grateful to everyone who came, who listened, who supported, and who shared that evening with me.
This video is my way of holding on to that moment — and sharing it with those who could not be there.
I hope when you watch Sephonono, you feel something of what we felt that day: the closeness, the gratitude, the beauty, and the quiet strength of coming home.
If this performance speaks to you, please share it with someone who loves music with heart, soul, and story.
With love,
Nnunu
